My local no-kill cat sanctuary has a pair of 18 year old girls who need a home. They've been there since December. I wish so much that I could give them that home.

Maybe we should hold a 180000th post party haha.

My grandfather was an ass. He had this oldish cat Benni. We really liked him and my mum used to look after him at our house when pa went away. Then one day we got to his house and there was no Benni.

Turns out poor Benni had been foisted off to some shelter.

I never forgave him for that. It was a despicable thing to do. Oh well, he got his in the end when he died alone having alienated those closest to him.

Wow. :(
I told my dad I wanna adopt senior pets when in older and he said I wouldn't be able to do it after 2 or 3 animals passed. Too much death. But death doesn't really bother me that much so maybe..

I think if you did something like that, you would feel sad, but also have the satisfaction that you gave those animals a dignified end and depending how old they are, possibly a happy last few years.

The only thing would be cost. We had to fork out a few thousand for our senior cat recently because of his thyroid and issues with pancreatitis. He is now on tablets that cost around $1 a day, so you would probably have to factor in the costs of maintaining elderly animals.

I've always wanted to adopt a mother cat with a group of kittens and keep them all. Of course this is in my fantasy world.

I'd adopt older kitties because as LBF said, there's satisfaction in giving them a dignified end and a few happy years.

I'm so bloody tired. I want to turn off the forum for the rest of the year and just sleep. And I still have to do today's water changes tomorrow.

I dont know if I would want a senior pet...
If he is 10 now, that means at most about 6 years with them if you are lucky. Probably less if its a larger dog..

This saddens me because Bubbles is already 10
What sadens me even more is that calcifer has the potential to be alive for another 20 years....Devil spawn that he is

Honey is good for acne, apparently.

Bekah, have you looked up any holistic recipes? I'm not sure you're supposed to put the honey raw on your face, if that's what you're doing. I think you're kinda supposed to mix it up with other things.

Tiki, curious. Do you not like cats in general or just Calcifer? Is he really that bad?

I've got two 16 year old cats. And I dread the day my rats pass. Ugh, and I've only had them six months. Why, why must rats have such short life spans? *sobs and goes to huggle rats*
