I'd love to be able to find a female Betta somewhere, but I can only ever seem to come across the males.

I felt sympathy for this one female who had stress, fin rot, and ammonia burns, so I bought her. It seems as though she is a baby and that she is a "he".

Unfortunately the local pet store I usually go to still keeps their Bettas in small cups, but I at least see them changing the water sometimes when I'm in there. While one guy who worked there tried telling me Bettas were fine being kept in tiny cups, there's a least a few people there who really know what they are talking about. I had a conversation with a woman who worked there who keeps Bettas herself, and was quite knowledgeable. She recommended basically everything you'd expect the average member of this site to recommend, so I was pleasantly surprised by that.

When I lived in Alaska, almost all 24 of the bettas I had were from walmart.
They would get in some pretty neat looking ones but as usual, they were almost always in poor condition.

and since I am so bored, I suppose I should do some water changes...probably not all 7 but at least 3

I behave well for someone who works next to a pet supply store that carries bettas.
