I think taking the father out and putting a different fish in, like a cory or a guppy, is one way. Something that eats fry. Natural elimination too, probably, where the weak don't survive because they don't get enough food. I don't know, really.

I may move this thread to the betta chat section someday soon before they DO get mad at us. ^_^

Do you think it's okay to breed "common" pet store bettas or should they be aquabid fish?

i think it's fine to breed petstore bettas as long as they have good finnage and body shape...?

rocky is fine all the kids are home now so he has 3 people to keep him company. he is outside with my neice blowing bubbles.

It's hard to tell. I think my HM does but then, don't we all think our bettas are perfect? He's uh, not the brightest though . . .

I know I've heard about people using the clove oil method for culling, or putting the culls into other tanks to be eaten.
I think the biggest issue with breeding pet store fish is you don't really know what you'll get, but if you're not trying to create a specific type of line then I don't think it's that big of a deal. some AB fish you don't get much more info than you do petstore fish anyways, lol
