I tried three times to make a gravel vac with this method. It was never strong enough, eventually i just ordered a small one from ebay for 5 dollars. Now i have 3 of these tubes with coke lids laying around under my tank :)) I hope you all have better luck then me XD

Except for the type that connects directly to your faucet, I've never seen an expensive gravel vac. You can get a small, manual one at any pet store and most department store chains for $5 to $10.

oh... I have one like that already..Although it has a manual pump on the other side, so no sucking through the pipe and having a chance to getting some poop in my mouth >_>!

There's an electronic cleaner here that I saw for sale for like 10, not that expensive, but the reviews weren't that great... Although I like it cus it doesn't do any water change, just a cleaner filter:

How expensive do they get? I got mine for $8.00 at petco. It was on sale though... I didn't think they would be more than $10 !! It's just a piece of plastic!
