Talking New boy!!

Meet __________. Okay so I haven't decided on a name yet >.< I'm in between Smithereen, and Steve. If I named him Smithereen I might call him smithers for short :) My mom took me to petco yesterday (my second time ever going there) and I fell in love with two different boys! One was this boy, and the other was a King hmpk who was so big he had to be curved to sit in the cup. I was walking away with the king when this boy just gave me a look...and I was hooked. He is in the 6.6 gallon petco bookshelf aquarium and I only realized when I got home that he was really pretty small, in this big aquarium

I feel so stupid though, I forgot the heater! I know I know, awful me :( I don't know when I can go get one either, I'm leaving for a week vacation this weekend and my dad hates my fish so he won't take me during the week. Gahumbug. I think I'm just going to do pretty frequent water changes for this week and put in pretty warm water...do you think that will work?

Sorry for how long this is :) More pics to come in the future :) You can't see it here but he is a very metallically light blue color! I also think he's a dragon :)

Ya, I'm going to try to get some more pictures later on, but he (unlike my other boy) doesn't seem to really like the camera much :/ Thanks though!

Thanks! I don't know much about finnage, but to me it looks like he doesn't have the best...but I'm not planning on breeding so he's great for me :)

He's gorgeous. I believe he is a dragon, but don't quote me on that ;) I love LOVE his red, its a beautiful shade.

I think it would be better to just put room temperature water in with him. If you put warm water in, I think he may get temp. shock from the water changing temperatures. Not positive on that. I think he will be fine without a heater for a week or so.

I think you should name him Smithereen. I think its more original than Steve.

^ Youre right, Kath, and I agree.

Unless his water is under 75'F, then change his water normally, he'll be fine until you can get a heater. If youre really concerned, wrap a heating pad on low around the back of the tank and cover the top as well as you can, save a little bit for air. Turning the filter and lights on also helps warm it up.
