I chopped Dorie's tail off! PLEASE HELP!

I accidentally chopped our Betta's tail off tonight while trying to fix the gravel. Have I doomed our poor friend or will the tail grow back? PLEASE HELP! :

I got a girl from walmart who had a chopped tail. It's slowly growing back.

I use stress coat which helps with fin regrowth and warm water with frequent changes.

Unfortunately, betta's tails are pretty fragile, especially the halfmoon variety. But good news is their fins regenerate quite quickly. It might not grow back quite as pretty but it will grow back. Just be sure you change the water very frequently because with his tail a little wounded, he is now very susceptible to fin rot. Super clean water will prevent that.

Oh, and welcome to the forum. Glad to have you. :D

Lots of clean water to help prevent infection will help. And a high protein diet fed in small amounts during the day can also help with fin regrowth. Live foods or frozen if live is not possible are really good.

Clean water and some stress coat will help her (I guessing it is a she) from getting infection! :)
My betta got a hole in his fin before. It healed but he has a weird colored spot now :(

Yup, Stress Coat is good. And it doubles as a water conditioner, too. Has anyone ever used a product called Vita-Chem? It's in my Foster and Smith Aquatics catalog (catalogue?) and I thought I might try it. Says:
"The vitamins your fish need for optimum health. Great for fin regeneration and preventing lateral line disease. Contains over 30 naturally occuring extracts bonded with amino acids."

Also maybe turn up your heater a bit. Fins grow better in warmer water

Think I'll try it. My guy has shredded fins from bad plastic plants (I felt so guilty I went and got him a new tank plus plants) and my new girl has some fin damage. I'll let everyone know if it works.
