How many in a sorority?

I am planning on getting another 10G (planted i think) after my birthday this month, and i wanted to start a sorority tank.
What is smallest number of females i can house together without problems?
I read three at one point, and tried it a while ago...Orpiment killed one of the females so i had to split her and Beni up.
Also, what would be the maximum in a 10 gallon?

I would say the minimum is 4. Some say 5, but I have had 4 girls together and they did well until I added two more females. I would highly recommend getting all the girls at once. All my problems started when I added two more girls to my once very peaceful 4 girl sorority. I did everything by the book. Took them out, rearranged everything and then re- introduced them. I had two of the girls get killed. Yikes.

The most would be 7 IMO.

Sororities are risky risky business. Make sure you will have a plan if it does not work out. You will, almost always have one girl who doesn't get along with the others. Not trying to be a party crasher, LOL but just making sure you know what you're getting into. ;)

Doggyhog pretty much covered it. I have 6 girls in my sorority.

It can be difficult, and make sure you have aquarium salt to treat fin rips! There WILL be rips, which may be severe enough to need treatment! You also need to make sure you will be home pretty much ALL day for a few days, so you can watch them, and separate any overly-aggressive females.

Minimum, like doggyhog said is about 4. But odd numbers are better. I don't know why, but they are. Even numbers can be done though, just not as high success. Maximum is probably 6 or 7.

I wouldn't put the females you have now in the future sorority, especially considering they were so violent they killed another betta.

Alright, i figured 3 was to small of a number.
I know, its risky. But i hear once they get the pecking order all sorted out, it can be quite amazing.
