And make sure it's unscented. I'm sure you already knew that, but just make sure :P It's 1 tsp/1 gal for the first three days, and it should be gone by then. Meanwhile, keep fasting.

I was just at work (Petco) and saw my typical "favorite Betta of the day" and he was floating partially sideways unable to go below the surface in his little cup. He was absolutely gorgeous but my fiancÚ said no because he looked sick but now I'm gonna start treating him with Epsom salt in the back room and if he recovers in gonna buy him. I'll try and get a picture Monday before I do anything to confirm. He looked "buldgy" just before his tail is that what's going on here?

No, that bulge is his swimbladder and every betta has them. It's mostly their stomachs that get bulgy.

Do you think my Betta (sick one at work) needs Epsom salt? One fun thing about working for Petco (once a week for the employee discount feeding my menagerie) is when I check for dead fish I get to look at EVERY Betta and buy my favorite :P

Yeah, definitely epsom salt. if you're going to still be treating him in the cup, it'll be helpful to make up epsom salt water in a gallon jug and just fill it up with that.

When a Betta has a change in behavior right after a water change and is swimming frantic...etc......something is most likely wrong with the water....either the dechlorinator was forgotten, not enough used or something on your hands, water temp too hot or cold...etc.....make another water change right away using double dechlorinator and making sure the water temp is within a couple of degrees between new and old water...

If it was a neglected tank and a large water change was made it could be chemistry shock......nitrate and/or pH......

How is he doing today....
