Help!!! Odd substance!

In my divided ten gallon, there is a weird hair like, white substance on one side. I have no idea what the heck it is, but it's only on one side thanks to the divider. The fish on that side have no ill effects. I have a heated filter ten gallon, divided with two male bettas. I did a 50% water change today morning, and added a pingpong ball into that side. Please respond quickly!!!!!!!!!! I'll get pics up soon

Look close, it looks like poo, but it was EVERYWHERE like a network! I moved the filter onto that side, and now most of it is sucked up.

Could be hair algae or excess slime coat that came off. I get that a lot too, even though I do water changes every other day. Does it seem like it's alive or move on its own?

no. But im sure its not slime coat. Its WAY too much. A lot of it has been sucked into the filter, but theres still some left. Ive put both my guys into seperate containers until I get this worked out... Im hoping it clears up by tmrw, Im going camping.

Do a water change and see if you can't suck most of it up with the gravel vac.

Is it oily feeling and smelly? My one tank did that before I got a filter. Is the divider one with holes in it or not? If not then its something your betta is giving off due to good food :D

Mine went away once I hooked up a decent hob filter.

Oh, well I have a filter and no, there arent any holes in the divider. I just did like a 60-70% WC on the tank, so there isnt any of that stuff in there. It didnt really have a feel to it. It just sort of fell apart. So I hope that was the issue. I will look into getting a small filter for the other side of the tank.

you will ahve to or find a way to let the water flow between the two partitions. That is the only thing I found that stopped it on mine.

Yes, but in any size hole they flare at each other! There was a hole that was the size of their eye and they flared at each other!
