Female Betta jumping out of water.

Long time reader, first time poster.

One of my female bettas has begun acting very strange. She is continually jumping up out of the water and sticking herself to the side of the glass. She'll stay up there for hours at a time and then drop herself right back into the water. She's currently in a 28g bowfront with 3 other female betta, 2 small plecos, 3 male guppies, and 6 female guppies. Tank temp is 78 degrees, pH is 7.1 None of the other female betta are doing this.

Any idea what's up?

She shouldn't do that.... Is she getting beat up?

No. Her and the other 3 females always seemed to stick together up until now. They've been together in the tank with all the other fish for about 3 months now.

Sounds like shes scared of something maybe, does she have stress stripes?

She could be doing it because she's getting picked on, or she doesn't like the water quality. How often do you do water changes?

Yeah, she does. I've taken her out of the tank and put her in a 2.5g by herself. She's swimming around fine, but we'll see how it goes I guess.

I do about a 30% change every 10 days and I always use tap water conditioner on the new water first.

Yeah id say give her a few days to rest, check her for injuries, and maybe move the deco around in the tank before adding her back.

Do you have a space where air can get in easily? Betta require oxygen from the air. Maybe she's jumping up to breathe easier...
