After losing my boy Rutherford this spring, I didn't think I was going to get another male. After all, he was my very first betta, and he was (I know I shouldn't say this, but..) my favourite. He made many trips between school and home with me, and managed to put up with everything that came his way with my not knowing anything about fishkeeping. I really loved him.
Today though, I made a routine trip into my local pet store to pick up the necessities, and took a peek at their fish. Usually I'm on the lookout for girls, but today a boy caught my eye. I had kind of been thinking before that it would be nice to split a 5g between two boys and name them after the male characters from one of my favourite movies, and today Dexter came home :)
I have no idea what tail type he is. His tail fin is short and ruffled like a rose, but I don't think it's going to be 180 degrees. I haven't gotten him to flare up quite yet. He's grey all over with some pink or red bands in his fins. I can't wait for him to get full colour!!
