Chickies!!!

Our hen was brooding a clutch of 13+ eggs...and she has had a hatch rate of 98%. Only two babies didn't make it...i'm so excited!
On another note...our hen who is guarding a clutch of 1 egg and 2 ceramics should have a chick by the end of the day... maybe...she s a little slow.

Nice! My kindergarten class hatched 2 chicks (with the help of an incubator).

yea, we hatched 3 out of a clutch of 5 in an incubator. It was fun.
We have been waiting for days to see if these things hatched!

My science class in college had a couple of eggs in an incubator. Our professor had to help them hatch because the dry air up in the mountains made the shells tough and hard for the chicks to break out of by themselves.

Yeah I can't remember if we watched them hatch. They were sooo cute. One was black, that's why I asked if there are any blacks. We gave the chicks to a farm after they were a few days (or weeks, can't remember) old.

Yes, we have some black.
The one that the Australorp hen was brooding is a Leghorn/Americana (she is to old to lay her own eggs)..Bright yellow!
Our Rooster (i will post pics of the adults in a sec) Has a deformed toe, we thought it was broken..but i guess its genetic. We had to put one of our incubator-chicks down because he didnt develop a hip joint..and now we have another that cant extend its toes. Its walking on the joint above his feet. :/

Ulga is being quite...well...the over protective hen. haha.
I can try and get some shots of the little buggers today, but she tends to pull them all up under her skirts and puff out at me...growling like shes going to eat me.
