I would get him in high dose of aquarium salt 3tsp/gal, lower the water temp 76F, good that you have the airstone..... treatment for the cotton mouth...
You can leave the Epsom salt too and use them together, however, with multi issues like this.....he can go into system shut down...good luck

Alright. I added the aquarium salt. I can't lower the temp as out house is just HOT (100+ outside) However I have his qt tank in the coolest, darkest area in the house and it's now 78ish in the tank.

As I know the odds of him beating this are pretty low, what's the most humane way for me to put him down?

I'm not going to right now, however if it comes to that I want to know.

That he's alive is good. That he has cotton mouth is bad. :( Cotton mouth is a gram negative bacteria. See if you can find API E.M Erythromyacin. It's a pretty powerful med. Or you can see if you can find Jungle Labs/Tetra Fungus Clear.

Are the fry big enough to eat the medicated pellets? You can try giving those to them first, then dose with the panur-c.

Sadly, the most humane way is the hardest to do: decapitation. Others on here use clove oil, should be some info on it on the web or the forum.

Sorry about your boy... The cause was most likely stress and bacterial infection due to overcrowding... Popeye is a symptom of dropsy as well so it isn't parasites, it's bacterial dropsy.

Personally, I wouldn't do Aq.Salt and Epsom salt together, they would basically cancel each other out... I would use Maracyn combined with Maracyn II and Jungle's Fungus Eliminator. Maracyn & Maracyn II are for the dropsy and Maracyn II and Fungus Eliminator are for the Columnaris and popeye. If you use medication instead of Aq.Salt then the Epsom can actually do its job and reduce swelling in the abdomen and eyes. BUT if you are having any success with what you are doing, then continue.

Clove oil is best for people who are not experienced with taking life. Decapitation is not for the weak of heart... Hopefully it won't come to that, good luck.

Alright. He's still alive but I am seeing no improvements. So I picked up the Fungus Eliminator (It's called Fungus Clear but it is Jungle) Maracyn & Maracyn II. I am getting ready to do a water change and am dividing up the meds for 1 gallon use.

Can I mix these three meds safely? Can I also put in Epsom salt? I plan on allowing everything to dissolve before putting him back in.

I think you can use all three together or DarkMoon wouldn't have suggested all three. Dissolve each medicine separately though. I'm not sure but I assume the epsom salt can go in there, too. I'm glad he's still alive. I hope the little guy hangs in there for you.

He took a turn for the worse an hour ago and passed.

RIP Gyarados.
