I know but sometimes you need to work to make sure they get along. If one of them was killed by the others they could have ganged up on her. I also heard somewhere else they recommend no more then 7 in a ten gallon.

Well, I don't think the others killed the one. She was just laying on the floor of the ten gallon from when I got her and not even Rosy went near her so I think she was just sick to begin with.

I wouldn't take a sticky as gospel.

I would suggest 5, and try to make sure they're relatively the same size.

Best of luck!

The sticky is just a basic guideline to settingn up a sorority. Like with breeding, different people have different ways of doing things and do what works best for them. The sticky offers some good advice, gotten from several members here but it's always a good idea to ask other members who have sororities for advice.

You really need to quarantine the fish before adding them. If you had, you would've known if the now dead fish was sick. Now you could potentially have a major problem that could be deadly to ALL the fish in there.

Yes, females love to join sides and 'gang up'. It is like human siblings... If you have 4, they are likely going to group into pairs. But if you have 3, they are less likely to group up and will be social all-around.

What does your set up look like? They need LOTS of places to hide. Java moss would be a wonderful addition. Be sure you are breaking up line of sight on all levels of the tank. You don't want to leave the top half totally open. Perhaps get a anacharis to line the top?

Seeing pictures of your tank could really help us out on giving you advice to make it successful...

Also, don't keep rearranging decor. This will stress them out and cause more fighting due to needing to establish territories. It is only needed when adding a new female in.

Good luck!

With 3 though, sometimes two will gang up on the third and harrass her to death.
