That's normal; the reason big breeders like EX in Thailand cull is because they don't have enough room for all the bettas from tons of spawns, and if they want to cull them, then it is likely that they aren't a good specimen AKA no one will buy it or only buy it for a cheap price which is not worth the effort to them. I don't think I could ever cull, though. I would just give them away rather than kill them, I'm too attached to betta fish xD

I agree that it would be difficult to cull, but I suppose if a fishy is not developing properly, then it would be best to spare any suffering. I've just recently had to euthanize a fishy that I've had for 6 months, and that wasn't actually too bad on me because I knew it was better than having him suffer... and I made my boyfriend do it and I didn't watch :)
Thanks for the info!

No problem :) Yeah I agree, if they had a deformed spine or had some other natural deformity I would feel a little better, because I would be ending their suffering. But if it is just because it is small or something, or doesn't have your favorite color, I think it is unreasonable. Why should you bring something into this world to enjoy life just to kill it because it is not the most colorful betta fish or the largest? Fish have a right to live, too. *Sorry about the 'mini rant' ;)*

I know the feeling... seems like lately most of my posts get ignored or just slips onto the 3rd or 4th page being unnoticed. Kinda makes me feel like my questions aren't important enough to be answered. Thinking of looking for a new forums in hopes for better responses and to be taken more seriously.

Don't give up on this forum! It's one of the best I've seen, there is almost no fighting (except for a few occasions) and people really try their hardest to help out. If no one answers your post, delete it and try again maybe. Try a different title or word your question differently that's usually what I have to do.

I agree. Don't give up on the forum. I have no idea why some posts get answers and some don't. Sometimes I have so many posts to go through that I don't get to some for a few days. But then it may be too late for some people.
