Talking OhmygoshOHMYGOSH!

So, Mike is quite possibly the best stepfather a girl could have.
Sorry, but the position of stepdaughter has already been filled!

You see, Mike and I were at PetSmart this evening to restock on water conditioners and test strips and the like when we passed by a clearance rack-thing. Of course, I noticed all the pretty fake plants (3 for a dollar? Oh man!) and pointed them out, leading to us grabbing a few. Well, then I look done and see a 20 gal. tank kit. Mike follows my gaze and sees it..

NOTE: I had been trying to convince him to turn his 20 gal into a sorority, haha.

Once he spots the price (60 dollars!), he says something that makes my heart stop: "Hey, how about we get that and set it up for your female betta idea in your room?"
And the rest is history!!

So I now have the tank all set up next to me on my desk. I got 4 female bettas, but I think one was actually a male plakat (pretty, far more aggressive, and larger!), so he's now, ironically, in my stepfather's 20 gallon until I'm certain of the gender.

Either way, they aren't anything special: a yellow-red VT, a blue (with a bit of red) VT, and a full red VT, but I still love them. The blue one is the most docile, with the full red as the most aggressive..

I plan on getting more soon; how many do you think I could go away with keeping in there?
Also, name suggestions, anyone?

I'd say you could get away with nine girls. Congrats on getting a 20 gal room tank! That's so awesome!

Nine?! Awesome! The local stores will have no clue what hit'em!
Thanks! I'm so excited and happy and- oh boy, I could go on forever!
Speaking of boys, I still have NO clue what to do with the gender-confused betta. XD I guess we'll see, hm?

Please tell me you cycled the 20gal before adding fish? lol I would check your ammonia in about 5 days and don't be alarmed if it's through the roof. Also, too many fish at once can overdo the tank and cause ammonia spikes. Once you know your tank is ok, don't add more than 2-3 fish at a time. Just warning you, it happened to me and I nearly lost all my fish!

Congrats on the new 20 with the girls though!!! You must be over the moooooon!

Haha, don't worry, we've got that cycling stuff under control, I think- I took some gravel out of our old 60 gal along with a bit of water (5 gal) and the filter has a bio-wheel, so hopefully things won't get TOO crazy.
So happy to have a new tank. :'D

Make sure you have ample cover for them, high and low, even plants that skirt the surface. Add the girls in and monitor them closely.

Genender confused guy can stay in that other tank, so long as hes happy there.

Just to let you know, water means nothing with cycling new tanks lol But the rocks will help as well as the filter!

It kind of can, but not really. It provides ammonia, though!
