New here and new betta

Wasnt sure where to introduce myself lol. My name is amber and I just got my new betta today at a local pet store. I really wanted to find a breeder but there are none close to me. but when I seen him today I fell in love :) and had to get the little guy! Im really trying to pick a name for him but cant think of any good ones lol. I had bettas as a kid and want to make sure im giving him the best home as possible to make the little guy happy. He is in a 5 gallon aquarium(treated water) green rocks, 2 fake plants, a heater, and a air pump(dont scold me if the pump is bad lol. I was gonna ask if it was needed or not) Im in the process of looking for a low flow filter for him as well.

I was wondering what his coloring would be? Ive been calling him white but he has bits of blue and pink in him too lol

Any advise and name ideas would be very very appreciated!
I got the Nutrafin Max betta flakes because it says it had color enhancers and includes freeze dried bloodworms in it too. Is this any good for them? whats the best kind of food to get them?

Welcome to the forum! You have a beautiful betta.
Just about any filter will do. You can baffle the outflow so it is not so strong..I prefer the sponge method in page 4.

Or you can put the air pump to use and get a sponge filter. It will hook up to the air pump and can be placed in the tank so that it creates very little current.

I have one of these. It's ugly as heck and you'll have to disguise it with plants (bettas love plants anyway) but it works. A little hiding hole for your guy will be appreciated too, like a coffee cup turned on its side. Some people use smaller shot glasses or things like that. If he has a place to hide, he will actually feel more confident and swim around more.

Your betta is beautiful, he looks like a pearl.

Hello Phsychotic Welcome to the group
I have a white Betta named Blizzard :D Some else on the forum had a white Betta named Blizzard too!
Both of ours turned a lovely shade of peach when they reached maturity.
Just to keep that in mind when selecting a name ;)

Oh, what a pretty fish! I think, colorwise, he would be a pastel? Maybe? I'm pretty new to the site and to betta-keeping myself, so I may be wrong... >_>

As far as food goes, I think the flakes are fine nutritionally, but pellets are generally preferred because the don't cloud the water and gunk things up if they aren't eaten the way flakes can.

Hi! Nice betta! I've heard good things about the red sea deco art filter. And it's good for 5g tanks
