It's upsetting but what can we do?

I think its sad that this goes on everywhere. Its horrible that bettas have to sit through this:/.

Umm... I don't see the issue? I do wish there was a description explaining what is going on in the clip but as far as I can tell all the fish look healthy and uninjured.

I'm with you, at the end after they lock one sinks a bit. It kind of looks like they're fighting over the male but they don't seem to aggressively go after each others, just like some weird hug....but then again I've never seen betta's fight....

That was an embrace by what I'm assuming are two females. When bettas embrace they are momentarily stunned and will either float or sink to the bottom. They were not fighting at all.. not even a flare.

Here's a video of a pair of my Halfmoons spawning you can see the female stunned after the embrace and float up towards the nest before recovering.

was that two females embracing? or was one a short-finned male? the ct male seemed TOTALLY uninterested.

Those seemed like two PK males to me. They probably were confused and thought the other was a female. I've seen it before. The CT male looked just as confused.

Well to answer the confusion on this thread. I was watching the video and i went to google translator. It said Female Splendens or something like that that said female.

Also I beleive that the embrace was between the two male and female plakats. They had to be plakats. It wasn't that they weren't being taken care of or being mistreated.

The owner had no intention of breeding. The sound of little girl in the video was a direct give away that she had no idea or knowledge of betta breeding nor caring for them.

That is what i mean.

I agree the owners didn't know what he/she was doing.

The two girls were fighting. When bettas fight they sometimes get into a mouth to mouth bite or embrace and sink . .... I won't get into details.....
