I almost had a heart attack!

I was feeding the lovely betta lady's and company tonight. All was going well - had the front of the hood open as per usual. I think you can all guess where this going. One of the females got a bit over zealous and launched herself out of the tank and into my wicker aquarium stuff basket.

I screamed and launched the food I was holding. Daphina was all over the place. My mom rushed over and I quickly began pulling things out of the basket in order to find her. She was scooped up and placed back in.

It all was so quick! I don't even know which fish it was. They all look okay.

I also managed to dump bloodworms all over while giving my male a treat.

Today is definitely not my day! I'm just so glad everybody is okay.

WOW Got some fiesty hungry females there! None of my boys or girl ever reacted like that! Glad you found her and hopefully nothing comes up in the future from it. Betta's are VERY good at getting your heart pumpin fast. My Brownie his this bad habit of looking dead at the bottom of the tank.. when I go to stick my hand in the water he wont move... but if I touch him he *springs* to life! D=... Gotta <3 Betta's!

Haha I have a couple of jumpers too... It was scary when they were in the sorority... Jayde has almost jumped out through the hood several times! Unfortunately she'd always whack her head on the top of the hood before she went back to the water and pretended like nothing happened. I should have never trained her to do that. lol

I know how you feel. One of the my female bettas did that too. But she landed on the wooden floor, maybe a 3 feet drop. Youch!!! But she ended up okay. All my females seem to be jumpers. I hope your fishy is ok though. Best of luck!!

If I held a peice of food over the head of my moms old betta fish, it would jummp up to an inch in the air, grab the pellet from my finger, then eat it and look at me like: So where's the rest? LOL

Most of the time mine totally miss the pellet and latch onto my finger and wonder why they can't take it with them. lol

LOL. That would be a perfect video, just show them latching onto your finger and be all like: Is it the piranha fish?haha

That was funny! I have jumpers too, one boy who likes to jump and nip my fingers and a girl who likes to jump at feeding time, I have no idea why.. I literally have to bend over the tank so that even if she jumps she wont fall out XD

Hahaa!!! That happened to me once!! I eventually had to have plastic canvas on the inside of the hood door so that I could feed them without them jumping out.. Crazy!
