My son got a betta for his 5th birthday. I knew nothing about them before the day he pulled the lid off the box. I have since been feverishly Googling, and bonding with my (his) blue veil tail betta he named Cheesy. (I think that's what he is, at least...)
Cheesy was given to us in a half gallon bowl which will be replaced asap! Day two I ordered some water conditioner, a heater, and a thermometer. Thanks to Amazon Prime, I was able to change his water just a few days after he came to us. I'm not sure who the water change was more traumatic for, him or me.
I have a question about his pectoral fins. He seems to have a tiny bit of fuzz hanging out on them. Is this a bacterial issue? Or a previously poor water quality issue. The rest of him seems unaffected. Also, he's only been pooping about every third day and it's a big round poop.
You guys... I never thought I'd get so attached to a fish and so fast. He follows me around, presses his face up against his bowl when I have my face next to it, and he is already eating out of my hands. I get it now. I really do.
