Yes, SPADE tail, that's what he must be! I don't know why I didn't run across that earlier. Thanks! I WAS feeding him 3 or 4 pellets twice a day which was on the bottle of food. I know now that's wrong. I think I will fast him tomorrow then do just 3 pellets a day, does that sound right?

I am so afraid to go to the pet store to pick him up a new plant... I am not sure if I will get out of there without a whole second setup and betta. O_o

CM, you're wise. You are aware of the weak limitations Bettas can encourage.

I absolutely LOVE Cheesy's fins. He's so unique... I love the span of his fins. You have a treasure on your hands

The story about how I ended up with a second betta and now a third tank is getting cycled starts with a sale on a nice tank and then I ordered too many plants and discovered that I still had a ten gallon tank on the shelves in my garage....

Honestly, though, there are good reasons to not get a second one right away. You don't know what kind of set-up you're going to want until you have "played" with one. You could decide that you want to go with live plants, or that you want to be able to add some snails. You would want slightly different set-ups in each case than if you want it to be just a betta in the tank.

Enjoy!

SO true, great point! My friends think I'm crazy, a grown woman with 3 kids swooning over a fish, so I have kind of fallen back on the excuse that the fish and tanks make good decorations. They understand that a little better.

But it's partly true, I blew all day today Googling tanks and setups. And aquascaping, which I have never heard of before today. AMAZING stuff out there!

And thanks, I think he's pretty special too. At first I thought he was kind of plain. :-O I now know there is no such thing as a plain betta.

SO true :D I love all bettas! And have you heard of aquabid.com? I feel like it is my duty to be the first to introduce you to this website...just prepare all your will power before you look in the 'bettas' section :D
