So me and my wife are new to this forum.
She has had betta's before in bowls mind you.
We recently bought 6 and had them in horendously small divided tanks.
1 of them ended up with swim bladder issues.
1 of them now has splits in his tail because of cheap plastic plants.
and 1 of them seems to be very intimidated by his bowl buddy.
the 3 others are thriving and seem to be more dominant though.
So we decided to get a 10 gallon tank. nice silky plants to start with.
Home made dividers nice gravel a filter a heater. thermometer bacteria and water conditioner.
This will be the new home of the sad puppies in the pack.
They will get more space to recooperate and more space to hide as the plants are alot bigger.
Is there anything else we need to think of?
We don't have a cover yet and currently we have perforated plastic on top while it's conditioning the water.
But i'm looking to do something with plexiglass or something.
Also we have no lighting in there yet.
We have the filter and heater on the right side of the tank and the thermometer on the left side so we can see if it's heated all the way through.
But this makes it almost impossible to have a standard hood.
does anyone have an idea?
Also if we want to encourage bubble nests for future breeding intentions any ideas for ornaments we can add?
i saw someone had used a coconut shell as housing.
Hope our buddies get better soon.
