Unhappy Please Help~!!! Don't know what is wrong or what I should do!!!!

I have a Betta fish that has been happy and normal for the last 2 years and then all the sudden I noticed that he looked like he was kinda shedding his scales.... He is the first fish I have ever had so I was not sure if that was normal... He was eating normal and nothing was wrong but for the last couple hours he has done nothing but lay on the bottom of his tank and not really move.... He is not wanting to move anymore... I got my net out and moved him in to a bowl with nothing in it so I could keep a better eye on him and I noticed a kinda bald spot on him where is scales are now missing!!!! Someone please help!!! Don't want him to die!!!! I change his water like every 5 days, he is usually a really happy fish!!! The one thing that has changed in the last couple days was I tried a different food but he was eating it!! Please help him!!!! Thanks!!!!

Did you add anything to the water? or have you tried any treatments yet.. I would suggest aq salt until you know what it is..... Do you have any photo's? Is it like he is not bloated and shedding scales or he is bloated? Is he scratching sometimes it can be an underlying disease causing his scales to get scratched off or fall off.. I'm not familiar with most of those though... All I know is that if it stops his scales will grow back

It's going to be okay, we can find a way to fix this!
What color is the patch where the scales are missing?
Have you seen him rubbing himself against the rocks or the decor?
Has he lost any weight or color?
Are any of his scales raised?
Is he bloated at all?
While he's ill, you should change the water everyday. You can move him to a smaller bowl/aquarium if that makes it easier for you. Adding aquarium salt to the bowl will help heal the area where the scales are missing. You can get aquarium salt at any pet store that sells fish supplies. Use one teaspoon per gallon.

Thank you!!!!!!!!! Oh and the food Im feeding him is Tetra Betta Minn Tropical Medley.... The color patch is like a clear white... like his skin under is scales.... No have not noticed him rubbing himself.... Has not changed weight.... Yes scales are raised... Other then the now bald patch, and the kinda looking like he is shedding his scales by his gills, and the not wanting to move or eat thing every thing else is the same.... That's why I'm worried!!! Don't want to wake up tomorrow and him be gone!!!
