Friend's 10G

Hey guys, my neighbor is starting out a new betta tank. He is planning on a 10 G so he can get different fish if his betta dies. Since he lives nextdoor, I am going to seed his tank when he does a fish-in cycle. He is planning on a single betta. Any tips for him? He's a little hesitant to join the forum, so I'll ask all the questions for him.

Seeding: I've never seeded a tank before. I'm planning on letting him use a terra cotta pot and my filter media (dont worry) Its been running for almost a year, so it's fully cycled. Any Ideas?

Some of his questions:

1) Sorority, hes a beginner, so keep it simple.
2) Conditioner-what kind is best?


I've told him a lot of this stuff, he just wants a second opinion.

IMO/E, filter media from your filter will cycle his tank immediately. Just tell him to make sure he gets a fish in the tank within 24 hours. Matter of fact, he can get the fish & put the medium in while he is floating the better to acclimate to temp!!!

Since he is inexperienced, I would advise against a sorority - a single male would be his best bet.

PRIME - not a better water conditioner on the market, IMO!!! 2 drops per gal. of water & you are good to go!!!
