Exclamation Afraid of thunder!?

We're having a thunderstorm right now, and Twizzler, whenever it thunders loudly, hides behind a plant or at the bottom of the tank, snuggling into the plants.
But when it stops she seems fine.

I think she's afraid of it.

Is that bad? :o

i dont think it should be a problem. thunder storms arent selective of which geologic areas to occur in relation to natural fauna species. they cant avoid any natural habitats where bettas live in the wild. the storms just follow the weather patterns.

My birds chirp real loud just before an earthquake.
We are supposed to have thunder tonight. I will keep an eye on my Blizzard.

some animals are just more sensitive to the weather. I've seen cats who crawl under the bed, or hide in the basement during thunderstorms. Animals can be sensitive to weather in ways we aren't. Like dogs knowing bad weather is coming.
Shouldn't be an issue, unless you get daily thunderstorms.

Have you had Twizzler long? If she's pretty new or this is only her first or second thunderstorm, she may not be used to it. Plus, as a fish, she can probably pick up on the changes in the humidity, the sonic pressure, the electricity, all that scientific technobabble. Anyhoo, I don't see how this could possibly hurt Twizzler unless she does something drastic like constantly get so spooked she swims into the walls or jumps and hits the tank cover. And if she's that spooked, it might be time to hit the storm cellar.
