Redbeard: Looking a little sad

Hey guys, I got my brother a CT, Redbeard and he came home a little bloated but still active.

I fasted him, then this morning he looked better, though still a little shy, so I fed him one of the smallest pellets I could find in my bottle.

He's bloated AGAIN and now he's been moved to a tea-spa 0.5 gal filled only a 1/4 of the way up. He's sitting at the surface, not at the bottom, he's tilted a little to his left, but he's not moving :/ He's not dead because he's breathing slowly but I'm a little worried about him.

I draped a cloth over half of the tank to make it into a "cave" so he can hide behind the cloth, but he seems to prefer it out in the open. It's night time here now, so maybe he's just sleeping? I know when Lelouch sleeps, he looks like a total zombie, so maybe Redbeard is the same?

My LPS doesn't sell daphnia and my brother and I hate peas so we have none at home. I'll see if I can find the smallest-size bag/box/can of peas tomorrow at the store, but I'm open to other suggestions on how to help him get better.

Make sure the peas are NO SALT ADDED. Blanch the pea well and feed a piece that's no bigger than a pellet. And you can try epsom salt, one teaspoon per gallon. At the moment, I'd say he's just sleeping but maybe keep checking on him periodically. How was the water he was in at the pet store? I'm concerned he may have gotten a bacterial infection from dirty water.

Yeah :/ I dunno. He was hiding behind his plants for the entire time I had him... went to check to see if he had pooped but he was gone :(

Maybe something was already wrong with him that I didn't catch. Appearance-wise, other than being bloated he looks fine...his water was perfect when I got him, not filled with poop or foggy or anything.

Aww, I'm so sorry you lost him so suddenly. :( Your poor brother. I can only guess he did have something else wrong because he shouldn't have gone that fast just from bloat. Didn't you only get him yesterday?
