So as you all know my gelding fell ill a few weeks ago and we have been struggling to help him recover.
My dad called me tonight and told me he doesnt think the gelding will live out the week.
I wrote this just now in the message box.

Sitting here my mind wanders
walking back along the beaten track of life
it rewinds me back to that day
five summers ago, when my eyes first befell you
You stood so proud in the paddock, so full of life.
For five years you have been beside me
and it looks like the time has come.
Your life has been full of love
From all those around you.
After a stupid mistake on their behalf
Now your lifes been torn from beneath you.
Memories flood back,your deep whicker,
Your sheer determination
the love you felt shone through
Now your life may have to end
But I've done everything I can
and this could be the very last thing
But please know it will be hard for me to do
to take the life of a very best friend
Is not something i want to do
you always looked forward
and even without us
to die would be but a very big adventure
if into the angels arms
that you are destine to return to
know that you will never be
far from our thoughts and hearts
Greet our lost ones at the gate
and be sure to save our place
for one day soon we too will come
to join you at the gate of Heaven
if tomorrow brings you your last day know that
you are loved.
