Is this fin Rot !!!


he seems really active and happy and hes eating well, im thinking it just how he is hopefully hes okay.

If his tail isnt shrinking then he should be fine :) it doesnt look like it to me fin rot is very distinctive in the way it acts and looks

Most fishes fins arent perfectly smooth all the way around it usually can be cause their growing or genetic.

What size is your tank? 3-4
What temperature is your tank? 74 but its usually around 76
Does your tank have a filter? no but i do change water regularly and i am getting a filter soon
Does your tank have an air stone or other type of aeration? no
Is your tank heated? no but my room is very warm and doesn't go under 72
What tank mates does your betta fish live with? ghost shrimp

Food
What type of food do you feed your betta fish? flakes
How often do you feed your betta fish? twice a day

Maintenance
How often do you perform a water change? ever other day
What percentage of the water do you change when you perform a water change? 25%- 40%
What type of additives do you add to the water when you perform a water change? nutrafin aqua plus

Water Parameters:
Have you tested your water? If so, what are the following parameters?

Ammonia:
Nitrite:
Nitrate:
pH:
Hardness:
Alkalinity:

Symptoms and Treatment
How has your betta fish's appearance changed? seems like a tear on his dorsal fin
How has your betta fish's behavior changed? no
When did you start noticing the symptoms?
Have you started treating your fish? If so, how? no thinking of getting salt
Does your fish have any history of being ill? not that i know of
How old is your fish (approximately)?

So, I don't think it's finrot. It could be biting, but it could also just be the way his fins are. It'll be hard for him to heal right in those chilly conditions, so please buy him a heater to get him at a temperature range of 78-82F. Bettas are tropical and need warm temps :) Also, unless it gets worse somehow, don't add salt, theres no need right now.

I don't see any of the usual looking signs of biting. Perhaps you are blessed with a uniquely finned betta boy.

I do have ghost shrimp so i dont really want them to cook but yes i am looking on craigslist for a new tank filter and heater for him
