Thumbs up Does a 2.5 galling tank need a filter?

My Betta, Red, is in a 2.5 gal tank and it looks a little swampy. So do I need a filter? Because he's on my nightstand and its a small tank.

Thanks!

i don't have filters in any of my smaller tanks. my smallest is a gallon, my largest is 2.5 gallons. as long as you change the water regularly, it shouldn't get swampy. x:

On my smaller unfiltered tank I do 1 50% and then a 100% once a week.
