Light Usage Question.

I have been curious how every one else uses the lights on their fishtanks. What I am wondering is how long and when should I turn it on? My betta Tiberius is kept in the living room which is well lit by natural light. So right now I have been turning on his light in the morning when I feed him for a few hours. Then turning it on agian at night for a few hours. Let me know what you think.

If you don't have live plants...generally 8h/day will be fine for the Betta....if you have lots of overhead lights in the room he is kept and no live plants in the tank....you may not need to turn the light on at all....they do need a dark period to rest since they don't have eyelids.....day and night periods like most living creatures.....

Ok thanks! and no i don't have live plants and I make sure to turn it off at night so I don't throw off his since of night and day. Thanks for the feed back!
