white specks on my java fern...?

i don't know how long it has been there, but i found it last night. they are solid and you have to kind of pick them off. first it was on two leaves but now its almost on all of the leaves. i put an office rubber band around it recently (one week ago) so it can attach to the ornament...thats the only thing i did to it.

this one i kind of enhanced so you can see the specks better:

gahhh please help!

there was a snail on it when i first bought it (which was like a month ago)...i just picked it off.

i tried to scrape the stuff off. when i took it out of the water i couldnt even see it anymore. i guess in the water it got magnified.

take the plant out and use a 20 percent hydrogen peroxide solution and spray the plant down with it then gently clean the areas with our fingers under running water. if it snail eggs then you will be able to rub them off with a little effort. if it is anything else the hydrogen peroxide will take care of it.

that is the method that i treat all my plants and i have not lost one to fungus or bacteria and i have not lost a fish yet that came in contact with the peroide.

bump!
so i did what you told me to do, regalesse
but it came back after a few days :(
i still don't really know what is happening...i'm guessing its a fungus?
but it doesn't clump together, it just a bunch of white sprinkles on the undersides of the leaves...

does anyone know how to prevent this?
