Wild Bettas on Exhibit!!!

A couple of weekends ago I visited the California Academy of Sciences and they had 3 wild bettas in the "Staff's Picks" section. They seemed really shy. One was of on his/her own and the other two seemed content to just hang out together. These are not our splendens! So once again, not sure on the gender of them.

I want to go there, I have never been there before O.O I've been to the art museum across the park a ton of times, and look longingly at it lol

my mom wants to go up there some time so maybe I'll get the chance to see the awesome wild bettas :D

That looks like a male Betta albimarginata. I have a pair of those living together, although they're finicky as anything and only eat frozen brine shrimp.

Wild bettas are great and actually fairly easy to own, although they can be really shy. One of mine never comes out from hiding even though I've owned it for nearly a month now.

Here's a shot I took of my female Betta rutilan. My male and her spawn every two weeks or so without me needing to do anything. I would recommend wild bettas to anyone who likes a biotope style set-up.

Oh wow, LittleBettaFish. She is just amazing looking. How much did the pair cost you? Good to know also that my suspicions that there was both males and females could possibly be correct.

Um I think the pair was $50.00 or something around that mark since wild bettas tend to be scarce around here. They're the easiest fish I own (besides my goldfish) to care for. They eat anything I put in there, breed all the time, and don't need a filter or constant fussing like some of my HM males do.

My albimarginata male and female hang out together since they're a fairly peaceful species. I'm hoping once I get them moved into their permanent home and plumped up on live food that they'll breed. I want to start an albimarginata colony.
