Betta may have Fin Rot

Hey guys last week i recently purchased a male halfmoon double tail betta from petco. Over that past few days i have been watching my betta and it seems that the bottom part of one of his fins is curling and the webbing is receeding. Is this fin rot or some other kind of disease? I want to know so that way i can treat him before i put him in the 15g tank that i have!

It could possibly be fin rot, the fins do sometimes look "melty" when they get fin rot.. See what others have to say. Has his behaviour changed in anyway? Fill out this form it'll be useful:

If it is fin rot you can add 1tsp of AQ salt to his water to the gallon for five days with 100% water changes everyday. If he improves and you see new growth you can remove the salt. If it is still there then use salt for 5 more days but no more than that. You can do this in your current tank setup as long as you don't have any live plants or snails.. Otherwise use a quarantine tank.

2.5 gallon but have a 15g waiting just needa know if he has fin rot so i can cure him before moving him to his new home =)

78-80 degrees.

no but the temp in my house is constant.

none for now but have ghost shrimp in the new tank im going to move him to.

Food

pellets
How often do you feed your betta fish?
2 pellets in the morning and 1-2 pellets closer to dinner time.

Maintenance

every 3-4 days
What percentage of the water do you change when you perform a water change?
40-50%
What type of additives do you add to the water when you perform a water change?
water conditioner

Symptoms and Treatment
How has your betta fish's appearance changed?
idk about changed because i just recently got him but the bottom of his dorsal fin looks like it is falling apart.

idk again i just got him.

over last two days.

put some fin/ scale coat and healer.

i have no idea lol he is still a little small but may be because he was underfed in that little plastic cage they had him in.

I think you should go for the salt treatment but if you feel, you can wait for more replies :) Best of luck with him!

I agree with Fighter. For now, try the aquarium salt treatment. If it gets worse after a week to ten days, then consider meds. But it's always best to try non-medication treatments first if you can.
