Exclamation I still need help...

Yeah, Saix is still alive and well. His ammonia burn is gone, and his tail fin has recovered. But he's still covered in black stuff. It doesn't look like a color change, but if it is it's way too dramatic. He started off as a light peach fish and is now covered in dark grey/black patches. And I'm especially worried because his left eye is now black and I don't think he can see with it.

Does your fish have any history of being ill? just the ammonia burn
How old is your fish (approximately)? i got him in november

Yeeaah, a little hard to see the spots you're talking about. Love the slippery when wet sign, though. Well, offhand, I'm wondering if it's a fungus of some sort. I'm not sure, though. Can you describe the patches a little more? Like are they raised or flat? Do they look like scales? Do they look fuzzy or metallic?

My avatar was from when it was just starting. So it's more of giant blotches of black, as you can see. They look like scales, they aren't raised, and they are metallic-like. That's why I mentioned it being more of a darker grey, because it shines. Thanks, I got the sign from a friend lol

Are there any spots on his fins and how long has he had them? Do the spots look like graphite (pencil lead)?

There is a black speck just near the tip of his anal fin(I think you can see it in the picture). Yeah it's like if you took pencil lead and shaded it onto paper really thick. And it has a tint of dark green in the shine for some reason. I don't know how long he's had that spot, but this has been steadily evolving over the past 3 months.

Ah, 3 months. Okay, good, that rules out one not-so-good possibility. Hmm. I wonder if it might be new scales growing over the ammonia burns?

I've been googling, too, and I am beginning to think he is growing new scales and developing new coloring.
