Anyone familiar with this tank?

Just got my first beta fish and a 1 gallon bowl to go with it. The guy I bought it from desuaded me from a large tank saying they prefer cozy aquariums. After looking around here for a bit I found that my beta would not be happy in a small tank. I've been looking around and found the Hawkeye 5 gal Tank Aquarium Kit.

Walmart sells them. Anyone familiar with this tank? Is 5 gallons too big for just 1 beta? Is the filter too powerful for a beta? ect.

Thanks in advance.

Hey Pryderi, welcome to the forums

I am not familiar with that tank, however from cruising the internet many people mentioned the filter is indeed powerful. That could probably be remedied with an AQ sponge.

5 gallons is not too large for a betta, you could actually put a divider in there and house 2 male bettas if you wished, but that would put them both at the minimum recommended size.

I own three of the Hawkeye 5 gals. and LOVE them. Yes, the filter needs baffling. Get some aquarium sponge/foam & rubber band it to the front of the tank. Like this:
