My Betta is a.... Morning Fish? (and other quirky personality disorders!)

My fish. My beautiful, gorgeous, amazing fish only comes out in the morning. It has literally taken me 2 months to figure out that no, he is not sick. No, he is not dieing. No, he is probably not trying to starve himself. He is just a morning fish. And he really loves his little cave.

And he might actually be brain damaged from breathing in the air that is trapped in said cave...

Irregardless, what does your betta do that just completely baffles you?

Last night we had a few wicked thunderstorms. This morning I wake up to EVERY SINGLE FISH having built or building a bubblenest. And not just dinky little ones with like three bubbles, but huge spanning monstrous nests. Even my girls have them going.

My female will follow my finger no matter where it is on her tank. She is super curious. I've never had a female betta before and it seems like everything about her personality is completely different from any male we have had.

Ratchet will only blow bubblenests when there is another male cupped in his tank. It's like he's showing them what they don't have space to do. Either that or he completely freaks and flares himself to exhaustion and beyond, because he's going to teach the male that has the audacity to be cupped in his tank a lesson or two.

He also won't go after his food. It must be stationary and it must be right in front of him and it better not be green.

Edward is too new and sick for me to see any quirks so far, but I'm sure he'll have some when he gets up to weight and healed up.

My male betta is about 500% more energetic than any other betta I have ever owned before... to the point of being very very self destructive if not given stimulation.

But when stimulated, he's the most entertaining and personality full betta I've ever seen. :D
