I've read you can cut a styrofoam cup lengthwise and float it in there, I know before you used bubblewrap which was another common one.

Make sure your filter (if you have one) is not too powerful, or his bubbles will pop! In a area where there is calmer water, put a tall plant, either fake or real, with broad leaves.

You can float a styrofoam cup, or if your filter current is visible on the entire top of the tank, take a plastic straw and place it in a corner so that a area is "fenced" off where the current is blocked :]

Ive used floating plants, real or fake, styro cup in half, wax paper, plastic lids from like cottage cheese containers and bubble wrap lol use your imagination, if it floast and wont contaminate the water it will probably work :) My last male had a nice big leaf to build under and he made his nest the corner of the tank, didnt even use it lol so whatever they prefer I guess.
