Question about Algae Wafers?

Friend of mine has a betta in a 10gal with 2 plecos and she put's wafers in the tank at night and removes in the morning. Well this morning she woke up to the wafer stuck to the side of a ceramic tree, covered in a gel and bubbles. The one she fed the night before was either dissolved (I wouldn't think, mine are messy when not eaten) or the plecos ate it.

Any idea what happened to this wafer? Did the plecos do this? I have a pleco myself and she doesn't care for wafers, but she's never done this. Would the betta do it?

Did they plecos mate and lay eggs on the wafer for baby food? I think pleco eggs are tiny colored gel balls.

The plecos are about 1inch, usually they lay eggs in caves and the father tends to them while fanning them... so I am not so sure they would spawn here, or at this age/size lol I'll run that by her though!

These are Bristle Nose Plecos by the way, 3-4" max, not 14-24" max like my girl lol

Well I think the bristles are easier to mate... I dont know about maturity age and all that though.

Bristle nose plecos should be sexually mature at 2"

hmmm, then I doubt its pleco babies.
Thats a shame, that would be really cool.

I was planning on getting a pair to breed, but that would take me into the winter months before they can be sexed, so I decided to just get the one for my 29g, and move my common to the 45g. Would be cool to see all those babies! I'm getting a Long fin bristle nose, regular color. My friend has albino or cherry regular fins. Neat little fish.

We're still stumped.

or its tapioka!!! just get a spoonful and enjoy.

If its actual gel spheres then I doubt any bacteria or algae would grow that fast over night... and of course take that shape.
