2 gallon fish tank with heater and filter, one live plant, he eats pellets two a day, i think the water might have been high in nitrates, right now i have him in new clean fish bowl with treated water so i could clean the tank effectivly, he is tucking his fins but no signs of fin damage or rot, eyes are okay no spots not bloating, no open wounds, he is breathing heavy from what i can tell holding tank is 78 fish tank was 78

well i can say that AQ salt may help his gills breathe easier. dosing is 1 gal per tsp. not really sure if you could put that in your tank tho since youve already dosed him with parasite guard.. but imo, you should probably just stick with salt and hold off on the meds until your absolutely sure of the illness.. is he darting for no reason? or trying to scratch? what does his poop look like?

sorry i cant be too much of a help! i hope someone who knows this better will come along..

Well I doubt it is SBD because that comes from bloating, right? Does his stomach area look large?

hmm.. sounds like SBD,, actually...
if its SBD you should use epsom salt instead. i believe the dosing is the same as AQ salt,, 1 tsp per gal., but ill need someone to back me up on that, since im not positive.

Maybe it is SBD. A pic would really help.
Yeah, if it's SBD then epsom salt is needed. 1tsp/gallon you are correct masshi.

and when you use the salt make sure youve dissolved it in some tank water already before putting it in, dont drop it in as granules..
