Filter system??

Currently I have a bowl that is about 2.5 gallons without a filter. I am going to upgrade to a ten gallon eventually but for now Tiberius is stuck in the bowl. While looking up various filters and I found something called filter replacement bio balls. Is this a legit filter system or what? Please let me know what you guys think about these.

They don't exactly replace filters, because it doesn't provide mechanical filtration. They just add a place for the BB to grow.

Ok thanks. So should i just not worry about getting one then?

Yeah. Just do one 50% water-only change and one 100% change weekly.

A filter would reduce that to one 100% weekly change. It's hard to cycle a 2.5 G tank...

Yeah, that's one of the main reasons I hope to upgrade to a 5 or 10 gallon tank with a filter as soon as i can. Thanks again for the advise!
