Yup, water changes and treatment. DarkMoon, can you soak those medicated pellets in garlic juice or not? That might help with the taste but I don't know what it might do to the medicine part. Good luck! Is he still pineconed slightly?

Yeah, he is. It's a tiny bit worse from yesterday. I've been checking on him every hour or two, so it must have happened in the night.

No problem Sakura! I just hope it helps. You can soak the pellets in garlic juice or frozen blood worms to make them taste better. Since I have done it in the past and it still worked I don't believe it effects the medicine.

I am concerned about the localization of the swelling (it's all in the chest). If it is in the chest cavity (not the abdomen) then it isn't a kidney infection, which is the usual cause of Dropsy... Try to get the anti-bacterial pellets down him. Those should help if it is an infection in a different organ. If the swelling doesn't go down at least a bit by the end of today you can increase the Epsom to 3tsp/gal at your next water change.

Is he having any trouble reaching the surface for air? How does his breathing look?

I forgot to mention earlier, try to keep his tank dark while you are treating him. Maracyn II is light sensitive. It will also help reduce stress. Good luck!

His breathing and swimming are fine. He has no trouble getting to the surface, he just doesn't swim around all curious as much right now. But I did get a garlic infused pellet down him. I've discovered he LOVES garlic. I'm going to try to get another one in him before bed tonight.

And I'll keep his tank dark. I had his light on for a few last night just to watch him, but for the most part he was in dim light yesterday (every time the light was on he would just go into the dark part of his castle. I got the hint). He's getting another 100% change tonight, so I'll put more epsom in if need be.

Thank you. I'm really grateful to both of you. You have no idea.

Good, I'm glad he isn't having trouble breathing, and that you were able to get the pellet down him! Just don't let him breath on you lol... Garlic breath :O

No problem at all, I just hope he pulls through. Good luck :)

Ugh, his dropsy is worse. It's starting to show on the rest of his body. He still eats and swims, but he looks awful... I've been doing everything just as advised.

Is there any chance he'll get better? This is day three of treatment.

For now, increase the Epsom to 3tsp/gal if you haven't already. Make sure you are performing 100% water changes. Keep his tank dark to reduce stress and increase the effectiveness of the Maracyn2. Continue feeding him at least 2 anti-bacterial pellets per day. If you can get more down him that would be good, but no more than 4. If you can get Jungle's Anti-Parasite pellets those will work better... Keep his temp at 82-84*F. Other than that, there isn't much you can do. It really depends on his will and the severity of the infection... Good luck, I hope he is able to recover. Keep us posted.
