Not a super emergency... just really confused and curious...

What type of food do you feed your betta fish? Little round betta food pellets XP
How often do you feed your betta fish? Been trying once a day but he's not eating them. 2 pieces.

Maintenance
How often do you perform a water change? Every two days cause its a new tank.
What percentage of the water do you change when you perform a water change? approx 25%
What type of additives do you add to the water when you perform a water change? Water Conditioner

Dont have test strips

Symptoms and Treatment
How has your betta fish's appearance changed? his black scales are a bit...less black
How has your betta fish's behavior changed? Was just sitting at the top of the tank
When did you start noticing the symptoms? This morning?
Have you started treating your fish? If so, how? Changed the water
Does your fish have any history of being ill? N/A
How old is your fish (approximately)? Just got him on monday :P

So the basic question is, why was he just chillin at the top of the tank? Since i changed the water, he's been moving around. Is that because he was disturbed or did something magically help him? Also, why hasnt he been eating? I saw him eat one pellet on Tuesday i think, but hasnt been eating since. Thanks for help. :3

If you just got him, he may still be settling in. Keep the lights dark and do a little less ob the water changes for now. You could also try not feeding him for an entire day, so that he'll be hungry the next day.

You should also probably try feeding him more than 2 pellets a day when he actually starts eating. Try 2 per meal, so 4 pellets per day total.

If you're really concerned about him not eating after a few days to settle in, try soaking a few pieces of pellets in garlic juice, it makes it really appealing to them.

If you just got him, he may not be used to those pellets too. I would crush them into halves or thirds and feed one at a time. My Ben has to have his crushed :) Also, you could try getting a pack of frozen food at the pet store, might be easier for him to eat.

Our pet store bettas are only fed freeze dried blood worms. It was hard to get him to eat pellets.

UPDATE: I tried a bloodworm and he ate that. (Yes the freeze dried ones) So its the pellets. I'll try cutting them or putting them in garlic juice to see if that helps. I'm just glad he ate SOMETHING.
