hmmm water hardness o.0 that explains why Ryu's caudal rays curl once in a while. As far as the sunlight thing, its probably false.

Ratchet's quite the ladies man until he actually has to do something. We cupped him and exposed him to our sorority and he postured the whole time. A few of the females took interest, but not the female we had hoped would take interest.

Would maybe changing his tank around less help him feel like he has an established territory? I change around his plants and cave with every water change.

I don't think he's ever been seriously stressed since he's never lost any coloring while cupped or in his rearranged tank. Most of the time he can't wait to get out of the cup and start exploring.

Well, I guess I can bring him out less often, but I still like seeing his real coloring.
Maybe I'll change it to once every other week, just to check how he's progressing.

I'm certain sunlight doesn't hurt him though.

sunlight is good for health :P but can make water dusty... Izumes tank is in sunlight and no matter how much I clean his tank, rocks, toys, etc the water still gets yucky... I need to move him lol. Natural spring water is soft enough for bettas : )

I just cup Ratchet and bring him out since I don't want to lift the 10 gallon unless it practically empty. I don't think I can get any spring water where I'm at either, so I'll probably just invest in some nice drift wood.

Ooo. I didn't know that. I'll be going there tomorrow too to get another betta since Edward passed away in the 14 day period.
