Well, I went into WalMart for a new light bulb and of course had to check out the bettas (being kept right under an air conditioning vent). I noticed a couple of really gorgeous orange ones, a black and red crown tail, a couple of dead ones and one guy with a terrible case of fin rot. It was really hard to pass up an orange veil tail because I have wanted one for the longest time. He is just a standard blue and green veil tail but even though he looks so miserable he did not seem upset or bored, he was very interested in me and what i was doing to him. I just couldn't leave him there even though I really don't have the extra time or energy for another fish. Right now he is in my 2.5 gallon hospital tank until I am sure he is not carrying any diseases, then I will divide my 5 gallon to make space for him. I have never seen stress stripes before in person and boy do they come fast. He was striped in his cup but when I started taking pictures he really turned pale so I stopped before I could get one which wasn't blurry. Right now his tank is covered and I am treating him with AQ salt. I plan on re-homing him once he is healed so if anyone is in the Riverside, Ca area let me know. He would be free to anyone who is a member of this board.
