Question Betta + Snail= ??? Help Soon:-)

Hiya! I am planning on 1 apple/mystery snail for my divided 10G. I've read you can feed them algae wafers and lettuce (blanched?) . The LFS guy also said one of those snails don't like warm water? Or they don't thrive in it or something? Is this true? My tank is usually around 80* F. Are there any other snails that are less than $5 that will be happy in my tank? Thanks In advance!

EDIT: Maybe I should've posted this in the compatibility folder. Sorry

My snails were fine in the betta tanks temperature....aside from the betta picking on his antenna all the time..I now have them in their own tank. :)

They love just about any kind of blanched vegetables..I personally try to pick vegetables that are high in calcium because snails need the calcium to grow nice thick shells..Mine love kale, spinach, carrots, turnip greens, collard greens, green beans..zucchini...

Nerite snails stay pretty small about an inch or so at most ..Apple snails can get as big as an apple..Nerite snails antennas don't get as long as apple/mystery snails so they may be less likely to get harassed by betta...Nerite snails I believe also eat mainly algaes and vegetables occasionally...I have read nerites are less likely to eat live plants and they do not breed in freshwater..however I have not had any issues with my apple snails eating my plants or breeding..and I keep 3 together.I personally don't have much experience with nerite snails yet though..I plan on getting a few in the near future though. :)

For apples, I've read that ph should be more than 7, mine is 7.4-7.8

I don't know about Kh or Gh. I can feed the snail microwaved romaine, and cucumber. How would I acclimate and release a snail into the tank?
