1st betta spawning

SUCCESS, my second pair of betta that I bought have successfully spawned. They are still in the middle of spawning. Male CT and Female VT. Will be posting up pictures later on.

I will also try to keep an update until the fry are free swimming. I hope a lot of babies hatch. This is my first attempt at breeding bettas.

Here are some pictures:

The male CT:

The female VT:

The mating:

The nest:

If you look closely where the plant goes into the nest, you can see all the eggs there.

Congratulations on the successful spawn, can't wait to see some pics of the fry once they hatch. they are a cute couple, the babies will probably be combs which are really cute. You got some goods pics, especially the one with the nest and the eggs

Thanks for the compliments. It was my first experience watching them mate. It was very exciting to watch.

I plan to keep some, i have the room for the fishes. I got some relatives that will take a few off my hand, and the rest will go to one of my LFS.

How do you guys deal with giving them away, I know I will miss them once I let them go. All that care and attention, it just seem so sad to see them go.

I will keep updating as much as I can.

Thanks, some fry are already trying to swim with the egg sack. Their dad really got his work cutout for him. A lot of them are really moving. The dad can't keep up with all the fry dropping down. I am proud of him, he's a first time father and doing a really great job.

He picks them up and tries to spit them out onto the nest, but the babies dont stick onto the nest and more just drops. Is this natural?

Here are a few more pictures. Picture heavy, but I can't help it, I want to share my first experience with you guys. I guess this is sort of my spawn log also. Today would be day three. All the fry are very active, I think my water level is a little high, the little guys have a long way to go up, when they drop down and tries to swim back up. But overall they are all looking healthy. The male is being a really great dad for his first time.

This is the over all tank setup:

A few pictures of the baby fry:
