Tankmates for a fantail goldfish in a 20g?

I'm getting a 20g tank for a goldfish. I'd love to have more than just one but realize that if I got two I'd need at least 30-40g and don't have the room.

So are there any types of fish I could get along with the one goldfish?

I dont think so, the 20g is full with just the goldfish IMO. There arent many compatible coldwater fish.

There aren't many other types of fish that go well with goldfish because they're coldwater, and other coldwater species are waaay too tiny for them!

Just enjoy the one, and perhaps some other non-fish species of animals??

Why not just wait until you can properly care for a goldfish before getting one. Which includes it having a companion of it's own type and not putting tropical fish in the tank. Two different types of fish IMHO. Keep your eye out for a cheaper second hand bigger tank and just get two.

I keep emerald cory cats with my 4 fancy goldfish, (long story). The only problem is making sure they get fed because my goldfish have learned to steal food from them, and goldfish will eat anything that will fit in their mouth. It's best though that you keep them with their own kind.
