Tank woes and resulting injury

Moved my betta into the 16-gallon, because it makes him happy. Arrangements are in the works to get him a nice five-gallon for when school starts. Thing is, he's got an injury- I think a piece of the decor was too bristle-like. He now has a long cut along his back fin.

Approximately the length and location of the cut.

He doesn't seem to be in any distress over it. Behavior is still normal. But I wondered if it will heal/grow back? (I know that tails grow back after fin rot provided the infection doesn't get to the base and eat the fin completely... same deal?) If so, how long-ish does that process take?

I love my betta. I feel like a bad owner now T_T

Don't worry, for one, you did nothing wrong, this just happens sometimes, he probably got is caught on a plastic plant in the tank, if you have any try switching to silk or live plants. Two, the fin will heal back, it might not look quite as stunning as before but it will grow back just fine, just make sure to keep the water nice and clean till it does so no infection sets in(i.e ich)

....not quite sure how long it would take, maybe a month, maybe less, maybe more but not much more...

Nothing but fabric plants in the tank now. I don't know if they're silk (doubtful), but they should be safer than my 100% plastic sculpture.

Thanks, and I'll be sure to keep his tank nice and clean!

It will heal. :)
My fish did the same thing..but he did it by over flaring. It healed in a few weeks/month.

Maybe that's how it happened? O.o There's this one statue that he HAAAATES, but I thought it was good because it kept him occupied. He seems to hate it less now that he's been in there a couple days, he doesn't flare at it every time he sees it. Or maybe it's just that he loves the new heater more than he hates the torii gate.
