Also dyeing is pretty easy as well, esp with food coloring/kool aid. You can still use the pots you use to dye in for food afterward. Me, I have dedicated pans since I use acid dyes :p

Cajunamy: I do predraft but maybe a little too much. It probably doesn't help that I'm trying to spin a finer yarn, around a fingering/DK weight. Can't wait to see what you've spun. Hurry up and charge, camera! Also pretty sure the fiber I'm using is carded corriedale, at least that was what I was told when I bought it.

Alpaca & angora are good soft options for those allergic to wool ;) Also, you say it makes you itch, but, there are some really buttery soft wool yarns out there - I wonder if you've only ever come in contact with the coarser stuff?

Ah yes. fine yarns. Took a loooong time for me to get there. One of the 2 I finished is a 2 ply sock yarn :) I wonder if you just try splitting really thin, if that would help you?

Yeah, there are some rough wool out there, but there is some super soft stuff too. Bamboo has to be the softest stuff I've ever touched though!

Thanks! The other thing I crocheted was a pair of baby/child pants (also known as longies in the cloth diapering group ) I made it out of crappy acrylic yarn that is super rough. It was just to see if I could do it. Then, I went back to knitting because I honestly like it TONS more.
