It was way more complicated that it should have been, lol. I don't know why, but it took me forever. I'm just not good with toys.

So here I am slacking on finishing the pair of socks I started (seriously, all I have is the toe left!) And I started another pair of socks!
My 4 year old son is going to be Joker for Halloween and we've custom dyed his entire suit. He's been wanting red ANYTHING to go with it. I promised red socks and gloves if he lets us dye everything else the right colors.
So, here I am knitting up a pair of red socks for my little guy. He's very excited! I skipped doing a gauge swatch so I'm just going to cross my fingers and hope that they will fit or be a little too big!

I'm having trouble knitting with rounded needles that have a 19 inch cord. I wanted to make a hat but the cord is a few inches too long and if I go a size smaller the hat won't fit at all!

Do I use a chunkier yarn or...something?

With hats, you usually need size 8, 16" circular needles. Worsted weight yarn is fine. Your circular needles are just too long.

Or you can use a longer needle and do the magic loop technique.
